Thank you card for EOTC/Mr Nath

Dear Mr Nath

I’m happy and grateful to be a part of the EOTC. I would like to say thank you Mr Nath for what you have done for the year 7’s. We appreciate everything you have done for us this week.

I enormously appreciate Mr Nath for making this happen. It's gonna help a lot for year 7’s to get ready for next year as a school leader for Glenbrae School for 2021.

We have learnt a bit of what a good leader is from the sessions. We all enjoyed the activities and we all have learnt something new for this which would help us become better leaders.

I have learnt how to solve a problem when something happens and how to make good decisions and to never give up.

Snowball

 I made myself a snowball
As perfect as could be.
I thought I'd keep as a pet
And let it sleep with me.
I made it some pajamas
And a pillow for its head.
Then last night it ran away,
But first it wet the bed.

Brain Bilston

This is a activity I did today about Brian Bilston, a poem writer he has been writing poems ever since a young age 5 years old. He writes poems about anything that happens in the world and his country.

Brian Bilston

Refugees by Brian Bilston

They have no need of our help
So do not tell me
These haggard faces could belong to you or me
Should life have dealt a different hand
We need to see them for who they really are
Chancers and scroungers
Layabouts and loungers
With bombs up their sleeves
Cut-throats and thieves
They are not
Welcome here
We should make them
Go back to where they came from
They cannot
Share our food
Share our homes
Share our countries
Instead let us
Build a wall to keep them out
It is not okay to say
These are people just like us
A place should only belong to those who are born there
Do not be so stupid to think that
The world can be looked at another way

This poem is a very powerful poem. Do you agree or disagree? Why?
Yes because it's negative and it's keeping other people from their country, only the people that were born there can stay in that country. There's a hidden message in 2 ways when you read this.
Brian Bilston received a lot of recognition for this poem. Find out what you can about Brian Bilston and create a DLO to teach others about who Brian Bilston is.
Already blogged it
Some people will disagree with this poem. Why do you think?
Because in this poem it talks about negative things about people and only people that were born in that country can live there.
Why do you think Brian Bilston wrote this poem?
To tell people to stop entering their country and saying only people that were born there can live there because that's their own country.
Who is the target audience for this poem?
It's the people that are starting drama, but they don’t know the hidden message while they’re reading the poem Brian Bilston made.
If you could choose the most powerful line in this poem, what would it be and why?
The world can be looked at another way, I choose this line of the poem because the world can be looked another way for many reasons.
What do you think of when you hear the word refugee?
Something happened to a family, which means they had to leave their home country and move to another country.
What are refugees?
A family leaving their home country to live somewhere else.
Find out some stories about refugees around the world. Create a DLO to teach others about your findings. Examples - Syrian refugees, Afghanistan, Somalia, Kosovo…

This is the 3rd activity I've done for reading today, this is about responding to the text, like reading the poem that Brian Bilston wrote about other people entering his country and responding to the questions we got given, and needed to make 2 DLO's that were given in this text. This was fun to do and learning the hidden messages behind the poem, hope you enjoy this DLO. :)

Mr and Mrs Gock explaintions writing

POINT
Mr and Mrs gock have been together for a very long time. They are chinese and they live in New Zealand. They like to garden and help their plants grow but they've been having some trouble growing their plants.

EVIDENCE
The reason why they are having some trouble is because there was a disease called the black rot and this disease likes to spread around vegetables and Mr and Mrs gock likes to grow kumaras and the disease likes to spread and they also needed to keep their broccoli fresh and clean.

EXPLAIN
all of their broccolis are turning yellow and limp because once you pick the broccoli the broccoli doesn’t stay for long and Mr gock wanted to keep them fresh and green not yellow and limp and that's why Mr gock found a way to keep them fresh and green by putting the broccoli inside a chill bin or in a polystyrene with ice in it and that's how Mr gock keeped his broccoli fresh and green and they also can’t tell watermelons apart.

LINK
There are some watermelon with seeds in it and some watermelon has no seeds in it and that’s why Mr and Mrs Gock had trouble telling them apart because the watermelon with seeds and without seeds apart so they put a sticker on the watermelon with seeds in it and that’s how they could tell the watermelons apart.

Mr and Mrs Gock ideas like when they put stickers on the watermelons to tell them apart and all of the others then after that all of the other gardens used their ideas and now when you go to the supermarket all of them has their interesting ideas in there and thanks to Mr and Mrs Gock for their contributions they did for New Zealand.

Harakeke

Jaydin

Harakeke can be useful in New Zealand

What is Harakeke ? Harakeke (flax) is a type of plant that helps a lot. The Harakeke plant basically represents a family to Maori people. The rito is something they call the “child”. The rito is the middle leaf right in the center. This leaf is protected by the awhi rito (the parents) and surrounding those leaves are the tupuna (the grandpa`rents and ancestors). Maori people believe that it’s not good to cut the rito or the awhi rito because those are the leaves that help the plant grow more bigger.

What can harakeke be used for? Harakeke is used for many things such as making Baskets, Costumes, Mats, Clothing, houses and many more amazing things. The properties of the Harakeke bushes are medicinal. These Harakeke leaves are really important and useful for things such as cuts and wounds.

Why is harakeke important to the Maori ? This plant is so important to the Maori people because they basically used it for everything. They built shelter, used baskets for their food and made ropes to hold their shelters up. They also use the mats for them to sit and sleep on. Harakeke is really useful and needed in a Maori life. Like I said before this plant helps a lot with cuts and wounds especially.

Back in the days Europeans really wanted heaps of Harakekes because they needed it to make strong ropes to hold up their ships. But Maori people didn’t want to give it. This is one of the reasons why Europeans and Maoris signed the Treaty of Waitangi.

3 ANZAC Facts

ANZAC Poppy

This is a poppy I made using AutoDraw. I made this to honor our soldiers that were
in world war 1

ANZAC Ted

Anzac Ted is Belinda Landsberry powerful, poignant story of a little boy's teddy bear that was passed down to him from his grandfather. Battered, torn, missing an eye and an ear, he might look scary but he's got a great story to tell. For Anzac Ted went to war, keeping soldiers company and giving them comfort.

Problem Solving

Manu collected 183 stamps in January. By March he had 834. How many stamps did he add to his collected in February?

834 - 183 =
800 - 180 =620
34 - 3 =31
620 + 31=651

So what i know is that i can not take away 30 from 80 so what i do is combined 80 and 100 which is =180 So 180 - 800=620 then i am left with 34 and 3 then i do 34 - 3=31 then i add them all up together so 620 + 31=651

Fitness

As I arrived at school I only had 3 more minutes to get to class before the bell rings. When the bell rang I saw all of the students going to class then I ran to class and put my bag on the hock and helped do the chairs when all of the students came to class we all sat down on the chairs while we were waiting for Mrs Ray to do the role. As she finished doing the role she told us that we were going to watch a short clip of swimming as we were about to watch the clip the staff told us that the pool will be closed and no class is allowed to go swimming.

Then Mrs Ray told us if we wanted to watch the short clip or go outside for fitness then we all said fitness then we all grab our hat then line up outside the hallway then we all went to the courts as we were on the courts we all made a circle then we did some stretch then the next person did a different stretch.

When we were done with the stretches we play invisible touch all of us were put into house which was Kowhai and Nikua and Rata and Kauri as we were playing it was going ok but until the end the game was getting out of control the Mrs Ray had to stop the game then we were told to get into two lines then we all went back to class and watch the short clip of swimming which was about how to improved our freestyle.

Water Fun Day

As I arrived at school I was so excited because it was Water fun day today i went to room 5 to get my face painted and a bandana while getting change as the school bell rang room 7 went on to the courts and site down on the bench while we were waiting for the reset of the school.

As all of the classes were up on the courts we all went to our house groups which was Kowhai,Nikua,Kauri and Rata and did our house chant as the houses finish there chant our prinseblie send us off in our classes.

First we went to the pools and had free time as the bell rang we all hop out of the pool and went to our next activity which was Water boom we had to stand behind a cone and the person in the front had a water balloon and they had to toss it to whoever is behind a cone and run back to the back of the line but if the balloon pop then the team had to start all over again and the winners were aloud to splash the teacher with the water balloon but sadly Kowhai lost.

Then we went to our next activity which was Lava flow and what we had to do in that activity we had to hop into the hoola hoop and run around the cone and feel up our house bucket then run back to our teammates and give them the cup we went back and forward until the bell rang then we move on to our next activity.

After our last activity we went to Mr Nath activity which was Holy moly and we had to grab the cup which was in a bucket full of water and the cup had holes and we had to stop the water from coming out when i heard the bell rang i ran a fast as i could while trying to not spilling any water by the time the bell rang we were so excited because it was our turn to go on to the water slide as we went up on the hill we listen to the teacher what to do and she said the best sliding wins 200 house point for your house and she told us to be carid full because of the nails in the ground. As the bell rang we all went one by one down the slide until the bell rang again then the teacher told us we could go down the slide again then we move on to our last activity.

Which was Sponge bob were we had to dip a sponge into the bucket full of water then pass the sponge under or over then it repeats as the bell rang we went as fast as we could to try and feel up our buckets and trying to be quick as possible but when the bell rang we all hi five each other with joe and then all of the classes came back up on the courts and that when our teacher Mrs tofa pronounce the winner which was Nikua then they did there chant then we all went back to class.
