Science - Weather

Today for technology we learnt about weather. So first we answered questions about the weather and what is weather then we watched a short video about climate and weather. So climate is a long term pattern of weather in an area which typically averaged over a period of 30 years and most people think that the weather is changed by climate but really weather changes by time . Then we wrote down the weather from today to next week Wednesday. The temperature for today. During the day the temperature is 16° and at night the temperature is 14°. Finally the last activity we done was match the pictures of weather to the correct name of that weather.

And this was the question that our science teacher gave us.

Which is your favorite weather and why? - My favorite weather is sunny because I just like to play outside and have nice light from the sun.

INSULATION

Image result for insulationToday room 9 learnt about insulation.First we watched a movie about insulating your house. One day a man and his wife and children were in a damp wet cold mould house and  one day a baby named Ioane went to hospital for 7 days because he could not breathe. That’s why we need insulation to help us from having a damp, wet, cold and mould house.Insulation is the stuff that protects the wall, floors and roof because if you don’t have insulation you could get a cold, then a flu and pneumonia which is very bad because people die sometimes. To insulate your home you will need Pink batts for the walls and the ceiling and Mammoth for the floor.

DENSITY

Image result for one egg floatsWe did an experiment on DENSITY.
Question:  What happenS when you drop an egg into ordinary drinking water and an egg into salt water?
Observation:
1. The egg in the glass of ordinary water sank to the bottom of the glass.
2. The egg in the salt water floats.
Conclusion:
This happens because salt water is denser or heavier than ordinary water. It was easier for the egg to float.
