Mud run Trip

As I woke up we had already arrived at our destination at Helensville for the tough guy and tough gal mud run there were so many schools there and we were one of them. We all got a bib number with the color blue on it and everyone got a bib number but some of us had different colors than the rest than my classmates and I all got into a small circle and did some stretches, as we were done with the stretches the announcer call everyone that was wearing a bib number with the color blue on it to come down to the starting line as we were near the starting line I was excited and a bit nervous because it was my first time then all of a sudden "Bang!" then we were off me and my brother (Gideon) took off away from all of our friends and trying to catch up with the people that were in 1st place as we were running we seen kids getting muddy and falling over into the mud but me and my brother tried not to get too much mud on us we then had to cross a small little pond me thinking it was not that deep so I try to run across it but then all of a sudden I end up falling into the pond all soaking wet but still carried on and we have also seen a lot of kids shoe in the mud. Then we had to go up this steep hill while everyone was walking my brother and I ran past all of them as we made it up that difficult hill we can see everyone that attended the race and even the starting line we then had to climb over a way taller fence then me but my brother and I were up for any challenges so we climb that fence as fast as we could and made it over before some of them that were already there before me and my brother we then had to run down the hill while trying not to fall over. The next challenge was to crawl like you are in the army under a net that has spikes on it and through a small tunnel we then had to jump over some large trees that were cut down as we were getting closer to the finish line the mud was getting so sticky then my feet got stuck in the mud and that I couldn't get it out but after I gave it a little shake my feet were finally free then I just carried on running. As we got near the finish line we had to cross a bridge but we had to watch out cause it was slippery but as I crossed the bridge I could see the finish line I then started sprinting past all of the kids that were in front of me and crossed the finish line as I did I felt tired but happy that I made it with my brother. As everyone was done we all had a nice warm shower and ate lunch after that we also stayed for prize giving the sad thing was that not all of us could get a prize but two of my classmates did which they got them self a soccer ball and a rugby ball. As prize-giving was over we were all exhausted from all the running that we did we all then got into the car and drove off back to school.

It was very fun and I wish to do it again one day.

What changes did the settlers brought to NZ

What changes did the settlers brought to NZ

The Treaty of Waitangi was signed on 6 February 1840. The Treaty

of Waitangi is an agreement between the British and the Maori

and the precise date of of the signing can be found in the Treaty

itself or on websites as well as some books. The Treaty of Waitangi

got its name from a place called Waitangi which is in the Bay of Islands

The Bay of Islands is in the northern part of New Zealand. It was signed

in the Bay of Island  because there were a lot of settlers and missionaries

and Maori tribes. So the British came to negotiate a formal agreement with

the Maori. Called the “Treaty of Waitangi” There were two versions of the treaty one in English and one in Maori.

Because there were two versions of the Treaty one in English and one in

Maori it was easy for the British to to write  completely different things

on the treaty. Both the Treaty’s were written by William Hobson because

the Maori couldn’t understand English. Hone Heke Said that the Treaty

would be good for the Maori but little did he know that they were being tricked by the British.

The Maori were being tricked by the British because the Treaty was not

exact copies of each other but little did Hone Heke know that the Maori

were being tricked into signing the Treaty and being looted of their land.

Mr and Mrs Gock explaintions writing

P-point
E-evidence

POINT
Mr and Mrs gock have been together for a very long time. They are chinese and they live in New Zealand. They like to garden and help their plants grow but they've been having some trouble growing their plants.

EVIDENCE
The reason why they are having some trouble is because there was a disease called the black rot and this disease likes to spread around vegetables and Mr and Mrs gock likes to grow kumaras and the disease likes to spread and they also needed to keep their broccoli fresh and clean.

EXPLAIN
all of their broccolis are turning yellow and limp because once you pick the broccoli the broccoli doesn’t stay for long and Mr gock wanted to keep them fresh and green not yellow and limp and that's why Mr gock found a way to keep them fresh and green by putting the broccoli inside a chill bin or in a polystyrene with ice in it and that's how Mr gock keeped his broccoli fresh and green and they also can’t tell watermelons apart.

LINK
There are some watermelon with seeds in it and some watermelon has no seeds in it and that’s why Mr and Mrs Gock had trouble telling them apart because the watermelon with seeds and without seeds apart so they put a sticker on the watermelon with seeds in it and that’s how they could tell the watermelons apart.

Mr and Mrs Gock ideas like when they put stickers on the watermelons to tell them apart and all of the others then after that all of the other gardens used their ideas and now when you go to the supermarket all of them has their interesting ideas in there and thanks to Mr and Mrs Gock for their contributions they did for New Zealand.

Book Week in school

This week was book week. There was a play performed in our school hall on Tuesday.

The play was about the Treasure Hunt. that has been written by Craig Christie.

There were two tribes living on an island. The two tribes blamed each other for stealing each others song.

The Treeland tribe was led by George and the Seaview Tribe was led by Jessica. These two characters teamed up to solve the problem about the lost treasure which was their song.

The problem was solved when they were able to put the torn map together and work out how to get the treasure. They had to read three different books to solve the problem.

I really enjoyed this play because both the characters were very smart and talented. They sang very well and were also very hilarious.

Thank you Sam and Lydia for coming to our school. I hope to see you next year.

Lantetrns Light

One creepy dark night a lonely man was working in the
lighthouse while all the people were dancing, drinking and
having fun but when the light went out all of the people
realised that there was something wrong with the light
when it went out.

So the old man went up to the top of the
lighthouse and was trying to fix the light
but in a distance a huge ship was almost
about to crash into a bunch of huge rock’s.

So the old man was trying to warn the people but when he open the door he
saw a light that was so bright that all of the people came to help the old man
to light the lighthouse so the ship could not crash into a bunch of huge rock’s
and the old was happy that the ship went away.

POLAR BEAR

I am swimming in the deep cold sea looking for some fish for
my babies. They are hungry that's
why I need to hunt for several hours for beluga whale, walrus,
reindeer, rodent, seabird, waterbird and fish.

When I arrived home from looking for some food I could
see the older brother teaching the babies how to swim in the
deep, cold sea and how to catch their own fish.

When day has gone and years have passed, I am old. My
babies has grown up to look for their own food and can
swim faster underneath the deep, cold sea. One of them
catches me a fish because thats what I did for them when
they were a babies.

Legend of Nian

One legend tells of the monster Nian, who attacked humans on the night before a new year. This monster was frightened by a god, dressed as an old man, with crackling, burning bamboo. This god taught the humans that Nian is afraid of the bright colour red and loud  musical instrument noises and crackling firework.

When we got there we went to the top of the ferry and we got off and there was a long path leading the way to Rangitoto Island to see the entrance to the island. We sat down and had to talk about some rules.
After that Mr Nath was talking then we got into our groups and we had morning tea. I had sandwich and fruit and  my friend had a donut and chips. After that we got into our groups and started to walk up to the summit .

Then we saw the view and it was beautiful then we had lunch then we started to walk back down then we got on the ferry and went back to school.

Eggs are eaten by predators
Artificial lighting Confuses the hatchlings
Turtles are herbivores and some are carnivores
Under the sea they choke on plastic bag
Rubbish gets blown into the ocean
Turtle Excluder Devices help Sea Turtle escape
Leather back turtle is killed to make boots
Everyone should help save the sea turtle
