My trip to Rangitoto Island

Image result for rangitoto islandMy trip to Rangitoto Island
On Wednesday 15th  November room 9, 10  and a few of room 8 and 7 went to Rangitoto Island to see how the island was formed.

We went on a bus and  when we got there we got into a line. Before you go on the ferry you have to make sure that your bag is not open.

After that we cleaned  our shoes and we made our way onto the ferry. When we got on we sat down and there were some volunteers from Kidscan. They came to help out and they told  us stories about this island .First the boat started to go slow then it  went faster.

When we got there we went to the top of the ferry and we got off and there was a long path leading the way to Rangitoto Island to see the entrance to the island. We sat down and had to talk about some rules.
After that Mr Nath was talking then we got into our groups and we had morning tea. I had sandwich and fruit and  my friend had a donut and chips. After that we got into our groups and started to walk up to the summit .

Then we saw the view and it was beautiful then we had lunch then we started to walk back down then we got on the ferry and went back to school.

I had a fun time at Rangitoto Island.

Seven species are Endangered
Eggs are eaten by predators
Artificial lighting Confuses the hatchlings
Turtles are herbivores and some are carnivores
Under the sea they choke on plastic bag
Rubbish gets blown into the ocean
Turtle Excluder Devices help Sea Turtle escape
Leather back turtle is killed to make boots
Everyone should help save the sea turtle
Sea turtle need all your help

Kelly Tarltons

On Wednesday 25th October room 9 and 10 went to Kelly Tarltons on a bus  so we can learn about Kelly Tarltons.

When we got there we went into Robert Falcon Scott’s hut and  in there we saw a bunk beds, his clothing, a piano, books, a projector,  an axe and a pick axe.

Then we went to see the penguins. When we got there we saw Sakura feeding the penguins and we saw some sleeping. Some were trying to keep their eggs warm and we saw some swimming.

Then we went into the classroom and we talked about sharks and pollution. We talked about how  we can  help to make the sea a better place and then we saw a guy going fishing. Then we saw two guys building a house made out of water bottles.

After that we had lunch, then we went to scan our picture and watch it come to life. Then we went to this machine where you have to put your hands in a very very cold water so Gideon and i put our hands in the water and we held it for 1 minute.

Then we got on to the bus and we went back to school and i had a fun time at Kelly Tarltons.

What i liked about  Kelly Tarltons is you get to see all sea animals while you are on the travelator and it was  an awesome  day ever.
